Here is what we have been doing this fall. Time sure is flying by:
We thought a blog would be a good way to share our journey as a family with all of our loved ones both near and far.

Welcome to the World Finn Edward Cavanaugh!
On Wednesday, September 5th, our lives abruptly changed again as we welcomed our second son, Finn Edward, into the world. He came in a speedy fashion with all but about 5 hours from start to finish and 2 rounds of pushing Finn was born. We are blessed with another beautiful baby boy to add to our wonderful family. Below are pictures from the past week and a half.
Dr. Carman and I. She almost did not make it and was not supposed to be on call, but we could not have the party without her again!
Owen is observing and not quite sure what has just happened.
Our growing family! I love all of my handsome boys!
Coming home on Thursday! I asked if we could leave the next day. I was feeling great and anxious to get home and get going with the next endeavor ahead.
Finn had jaundice and was a glow worm for a few days with a Billy Blanket. He is doing much better now.
This was mom's gift to Owen as a big brother. He takes after his father and loves his tools. I think I am going to have another handy man!

Oh Where Did August Go?!
I am writing this post on Labor Day Weekend and wondering where the month of August went. I last posted after returning from Family Week at the end of July and another month has already come and gone. We are 3 weeks away from the due date of the birth of our second child. This is the first Labor Day weekend since we have been together that we have been home. It has been nice though to get last minute things done around the house, like pack my hospital bag and make some freezer meals for the weeks ahead when cooking will be the last thing on my mind. Hopefully our next post will be pictures of CavBaby #2!
Owen is getting so big, he is now definitely turning into a little boy. He constantly swats our hands away so that he can do things on his own. He can actually vacuum with the Shark Vac on his own, I love it!!!
I have made plenty of pasta sauce from the wonderful tomatoes. However, it has been hard to keep up with Owen eating all of the cherry tomatoes out of the garden as we are picking them. But I can't complain because it is a wonderful snack for him. Although when he eats rotten or green tomatoes that is probably not the best thing!
This was week 33! Oh how I am so big!
Owen is quite the climber, he is like a little monkey. And for anyone that is around Owen for a short amount of time you know that he is constantly falling and getting right back up at em'. Well he fell off this box laughing hysterically and then got right back up on it. He is such a stinker! He will have me and the baby running after him this fall.
Week 36 Bump! Only a few more weeks to go.
Nothing like y two boys vacuuming for mom on a Saturday morning. Like father, like son! Makes the wife/mom happy!
We enjoyed Grayslake's Summer Daze with our neighbors, Owen's good buddy Jackson. Many firsts for Owen- his first carnival, his first giant slide and his first carnival ride on the dragon.
Owen has started to get an attention span of about 5 minutes when it comes to watching Super Why on the IPAD. I love watching his face when we first turn it on and the theme song starts playing. He gets a giant smile and he gravitates toward the IPAD and his buddy Wyatt. It is pretty scary also that a 17-month old knows how to use the IPAD. I think he was teaching grandma how to use it when she was watching him one day. Pretty soon he will be teaching me things to do on it.
Owen with some of his Jesionowski cousins. He had so much fun playing with all of their big boy toys.
Owen and Cousin Victoria. At one point he was eating off her plate. I sure hope he learns his manners around girls before he gets older!
I can't imagine loving another child as much as I love this little guy. But I am sure my heart will make room for another child in just a few short weeks. Owen has grown into such a loving little boy. Yesterday I left to run an errand and asked him for a kiss. He came over to me with his mouth wide open and came up to my mouth. My heart melted at that moment, although he needs to learn eventually to not go in for a kiss with a big wide open mouth. He might scare a future wife off!

Cavanaugh Family Week 2012
We had another great Cavanaugh Family Week up at the cottage. Owen loved the great outdoors. It was wonderful because all of the fresh air made him sleep so great. It was like heaven getting to sleep in until 7 am!
Owen actually went off the boat with me into about 20 feet deep water with his lifejacket on. He was doing great until the end then he wanted to get back in the boat and get out of the jacket. Hopefully we did not scar him and make him never want to go in again. He definitely does not like the life jacket though.
We went and picked raspberries out near the house, but I could not pick fast enough because Owen was eating them as fast as I was putting them in the bowl. Yum, yum! As you can see there were not any left to bring back to the house.
One of the best parts of being up north is watching the beautiful sun set across the lake. It is definitely so peaceful and a wonderful escape from the busy hustle and bustle of work and life back at home. It is nice to slow down for a week and take a break. Unfortunately, now it is back to another school year in just a week and crazy times ahead with only 7 weeks until my due date. We are hunkering down and getting the house ready for Cavanaugh Baby #2!

July Heat
This summer is flying by and so is the pregnancy. But of course it would have to be the hottest summer in the record books! As of today we have had 30 days in the 90's and usually we get about 17 days an entire summer and we are only half way through the summer. Thank God we have air in our house and at work. Unfortunately, there have been many nights when we can't go outside and enjoy the fresh air because it has been too hot for Owen and I. As you will see below I am getting quite big and the hot weather is just not real enjoyable for me at this point.
Week 29 Bump
Week 30 Bump
One thing we have been doing to get refreshed and stay cool is going to the Splash Park nearby. It is the greatest invention, I wish we had these when we were growing up. It is a free park by our house where there are a bunch of splash fountains and buckets that drop water and little ones can run around and get wet. Owen loves it. He is quite the dare devil, running through the circles of water and under the buckets. Our garden is also not enjoying this heat. We have definitely seen a reduction in crops compared to previous years. There are some things that never even came up, hence the open spaces in the garden.
This was the first year that I planted carrots and they have been growing. I have picked 2 so far and as you can see a few more are about ready.
The tomatoes are finally beginning to turn red. However, there are definitely not as many as previous years and they are taking a lot longer to ripen. Hopefully they will and not just stay green.
This year I decided to do a portabello mushroom box. As you can see below, that is doing wonderful! When we came back from Michigan I had about 30 mushrooms and this was from last week when I got 5 gigantic mushrooms. We sautéed them up and they were delicious!
Lynn's boyfriend, Drew, finally entered the wonderful 30's with Ryan and I. So we had a surprise party for him last weekend to bring him into the next decade. I think he was surprised and he definitely enjoyed the festivities!
We also spent part of last week in LaSalle Peru celebrating the wedding of my cousin Mark and his wife Susan. It was a fun weekend spent with family. Owen's highlight was riding on the luggage carrier through the halls and down the elevator. The little things that bring joy to little ones! It makes me step back and realize how simple life is in the eyes of a 1-year old.
Owen and the guys. In a few years he will be dressed up with them enjoying the family weddings. He just had fun eating his apple and hanging out with us before we departed for the reception.
The entire Bogdonas clan. It was so fun to be able to spend the night with all of us together. I think we dominated the dance floor again like most weddings we attend. I would be interested to see the video from the wedding because I constantly saw it following one of us and it caught my cousin's wife Mary Ann and I doing a baby bump together. I am sure that was quite the scene, but let me tell you people kept requesting it.
Love my sisters! Can't wait to hopefully sooner than later celebrate their weddings!
